Around The Track: Current News
Atlanta, Georgia, Jan. 9, 2012 – When Sprint Cup drivers start testing for the upcoming season with the new “Gen 6″ cars, they’ll be eligible to use the new HANS Pro Ultra. NASCAR approved the newest HANS Device in time for testing that begins at the Daytona International Speedway on Wednesday.
Featuring light weight and a low collar, the HANS Pro Ultra provides the same protection as the HANS Professional used worldwide by drivers in major racing series since 2001. Made from carbon fiber, the new HANS Pro Ultra carries a feather graphic on the new style collar signifying its low weight.
At $995, the HANS Pro Ultra offers added benefit for racers with no increase in price.
“The HANS Pro Ultra further confirms HANS Performance Products as a market leader in providing innovative safety products to our customers at a competitive price,” said Gary Milgrom, vice president of HANS Performance Products.
The new HANS Pro Ultra allows better access and egress for drivers due to the lower collar. A different contour to the legs provides an improved fit across the chest and shoulders. The newest HANS also has high epaulets for an improved fit with safety harnesses.
In addition to NASCAR, the HANS Pro Ultra has been approved for competition by the SFI’s specification 38.1 for Head and Neck Restraints and by the FIA, the international sanctioning body. Formed by five-time IMSA driving champion Jim Downing and Dr. Robert Hubbard in 1991, HANS Performance Products is a division of Simpson Performance Products, which acquired HPP in September of 2012. Dedicated to elevating the standards of racing safety through continuous development and testing, Simpson is committed to putting safety first for racers.
