SIMPSON
PERFORMANCE PRODUCTS introduces the Pro Style Gloves for the 2003 racing
season. Feb
25, 2003 - The
new Simpson Pro Style Gloves are designed to meet the demands that drivers
are placing on their equipment. "In all of the products we develop,
the drivers perspective on fit, comfort, performance and protection
are very important in determining what we develop and introduce to the
marketplace. Our
focus with the Pro Style Gloves is to improve on all of these areas
with special attention to comfort and performance," states Doug
Doolen, Vice President of Simpson Performance Products. "We have
analyzed the glove wear areas of many makes of gloves in the field and
simply asked drivers what they want in a glove." The result is
a completely redesigned glove with improved grip design and advanced
material construction. Abrasion
Resistance:
The leather used in the palm of the Pro Style Gloves has been specially developed
to provide maximum strength and offer exceptional resistance to abrasion. This
leather (FR Digital Grip Leather) was originally issued on
the Formula Grip Glove in 2000 and proved to have superior durability. Special
attention has also been placed on the critical wear areas of the palm with reinforced
padding. Flame
Resistance:
The Pro Series I is constructed using knit Nomex® for its superior flame
retardant (FR) properties. The additional protection and added breathability
of the Pro Series II, is due to the testing success of our filament Nomex®.
The specially processed leather that will, once out of reach of a flame, stop
burning within 2 seconds and stop glowing within 5 seconds. Additionally, the
FR leather offers enhanced insulation benefits by limiting water uptake, keeping
the hand dry and warm at all times. Low water uptake guarantees overall comfort
and sustained dexterity. Several
top drivers have already made early season switches to the Pro Series
Gloves. One of our early prototypes has been tested with Brad Noffsinger,
USAC Driver and Richard Petty Driving Experience Instructor. He noted
that these gloves "look and feel awesome" after logging 3,000
miles driving school time and half a season of competition in the USAC
Silver Crown Division. |
