Driving into the setting sun is not unique to race car drivers, but it
does pose an especially dangerous situation when traveling at
a blazing rate of speed. Simpson is now offering an easy to install
shield insert that automatically detects solar glare and adjusts
to offer needed protection during this crucial time.
The thin polycarbonate lens is optically coated with a patented photo chromatic
coating that transforms from clear green to dark cobalt blue
in less than 4 seconds when exposed to intense sunlight. The
insert returns to its normal color when removed from the light
source. Manufactured in a cleanroom environment, the lens is
optically correct, meaning the tolerance of the visor holds to
only a micron of variation, an all important factor to ensure
no distortion of vision. As an added benefit, the lens is anti-fog.
Hyper Optiks® comes with a self adhesive seal and easy application
guide. With proper care, your light reactive insert can last through an entire
season. At end of life, simply peel away the lens and replace.
The universal design fits most helmets. Some drivers like to
use the Speed Tint visor along with the Hyper Optiks® insert. Speed Tint
visors can be applied at the top of the insert, and offer continuous
protection when looking upward.
Extensive product testing has revealed the exceptional performance of the
Hyper Optik® shield insert. Simpson Performance Products is the exclusive
distributor for Hyper Optik® to the automotive racing industry. Simpson
Performance Products does not recommend Hyper Optik® for use by drivers
with astigmatism due to potential for increased back glare.
